ODOC Arrests Former Kate Barnard Correctional Center Chaplain

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Department of Corrections Fugitive Apprehension and Investigations Unit has arrested the former chaplain of Kate Barnard Correctional Center, a minimum-security prison for women.

The agency immediately began an investigation on Thursday after it learned of a possible inappropriate relationship between an inmate and Chaplain Don Dickerson.

Dickerson, an ODOC employee since August 2000, admitted during an interview with an ODOC agent that he had sexual contact with the victim. An ODOC agent also interviewed the victim.

The arrest took place Friday at the facility, located at 3300 N. Martin Luther King Ave., after the interviews.

Dickerson was booked at Oklahoma County Jail on a complaint of rape by instrumentation.

He resigned from the agency on Tuesday.

The agency’s investigation is ongoing.
