The Office of the Inspector General Investigations Unit is responsible for conducting both procedural and criminal investigations under the authority of the Director of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. Investigations encompass, but are not limited to: Prison Rape Elimination Act complaints, criminal investigations that occur in an Oklahoma Department of Corrections facility, major policy violations, unattended deaths, background investigations, and other administrative investigations.

The Investigations Unit also works hand-in-hand with the Criminal Interdiction Unit, Fugitive Apprehension Unit, Intelligence Unit, and Employee Rights and Relations Unit in developing and investigating actionable intelligence, to fulfill and successfully complete the mission of the Office of the Inspector General.

In compliance with the reporting requirements of 74 O.S. 3106.4[C], this agency is making known that it stores name, birth date, place of birth, mother’s maiden name, biometric records, Social Security number, official state or government issued driver license or identification number, alien registration number, government passport number, and employer or taxpayer identification numbers.   The personally identifiable data is stored both electronically and in confidential paper files.  The data is shared in compliance with court orders and agreements with other government bodies.
