The Howard McLeod Correctional Center (HMCC) is a minimum security, adult male facility located 30 miles southeast of Atoka, Oklahoma. The facility capacity is 693 inmates and facility property is comprised of approximately 5300 acres. Facility land is utilized by the Agri-Services division to produce cattle, hay, pecans, and fire wood. Facility inmates comprise of six (6) Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) crews benefiting the public while providing meaningful work opportunities for the inmates.
The facility has several programs available to inmates, including a career tech program with classes in welding and machine technology. Education is available with classes from literacy through GED. College courses are also available for inmates who qualify. Self-help programs are also available and include Thinking For A Change, Uprooting Anger, Genesis I, Alcohol Anoymous (AN), Narcotics Anoymous (NA), and Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program (PREP).
Regular Visiting Hours
Saturday, 8:30A.M. to 3:00P.M
(Inmates with DOC numbers that end in an even number)
Sunday, 8:30A.M. to 3:00P.M
(Inmates with DOC numbers that end in an odd number )
All inmates are allowed to visit on holidays.
Each inmate is allowed to visit a number of hours that is determined by their earned credit level.
One (1) hour per week -
Inmates are permitted a one hour non contact visit per week from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday with the exception of state observed holidays. If the holiday is on any other day than Saturday the inmate can visit on that day as well as Saturday, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Visitors must check in by 5:45 p.m. to be allowed the visit.
Three (3) hours per week -
Visiting hours will begin at 12:00 p.m. and end at 3:00 p.m., either Saturday or Sunday plus legal holidays.
Five (5) hours per week --
Visiting hours will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m., either Saturday or Sunday plus legal holidays.
Six and a half (6.5) hours per week --
Visiting hours will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m., either Saturday or Sunday plus legal holidays.
HMCC allows inmates to have special visits. Special visits include visits from persons who have come long distances, volunteers or team members identified by staff that have partnered with the Department of Corrections in re-entry services when the visit will aid in the re-entry process, visits to hospitalized inmates, visits in disciplinary status (attorney visits and clergy only), and visits between clergy and social service agency representatives, etc.
If the special visit is allowed on the inmate’s regular visiting day, the length of the visit will be determined by the inmate’s visiting privilege level criteria. If the special visit is during the work week, the length of the visit will be determined on an individual basis not to exceed two (2) hours. However, if the inmate is on Level 1, special visits must adhere to non-contact policy.
