Costume-clad DOC staffers take the plunge for Special Olympics

ENID, Okla. -- Dozens of folks took the plunge into icy water Saturday morning for Special Olympics. Among the participants were ODOC employees from James Crabtree and Bill Johnson Correctional Centers.

Sgt. Pat Harris has been raising money for Special Olympics since joining the Department of Corrections 23 years ago. So far, Harris has collected approximately $85,000 in donations and hopes to reach $100,000 in the next couple years. Harris said, "The Polar Plunge is for good people, the Special Olympics. It's a good way to help out."

The Department of Corrections was joined by area schools, business owners and civic leaders for this year's plunge in Enid.

The donations are still being tabulated but ODOC employees have already contributed $5,300 to the worthy cause this year.
